Power and Safety for the Road
Both Nissan and Honda put a focus on efficiency with their models by using a three- and four-cylinder engine, respectively. The Nissan Rogue comes out the winner on the base model with slightly more horsepower and torque than the Honda. Both models feature a 1.5L engine with a CVT and optional all-wheel drive.
When it comes to safety, the two manufacturers add numerous systems to their base models. Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning are standard while Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is standard on the Rogue and available on the CR-V. Nissan also makes the 360-degree camera available on the base trim along with parking sensors. Driver Attention Monitoring is standard on both models, but only the Nissan Rogue makes Blind Spot Monitoring standard on the base trim.
Comfort and Convenience for Long Trips
As compact SUVs, the Rogue and CR-V provide two rows of seats with room for five and cargo space. Both models offer split-folding rear seats to fit in a combination of passengers and gear. The Nissan Rogue offers a little more head room in the first and second rows to fit taller passengers. You also get more ground clearance with the Rogue at 8.2 inches to take on more challenges of the road. Keyless entry and ignition are standard on both models. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel are available while leather upholstery is an option on the base trim of either model.
When it comes to technology, these two SUVs are well-equipped. They include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard on all trims. Only the Nissan Rogue makes satellite radio standard as well. You can also add a navigation system on the base Rogue, but you’ll need to choose a higher trim for the CR-V to have navigation assistance. Only Nissan makes Wi-Fi optional on the base trim in case your passengers want to get online while you’re traveling.
